Artist Statement

A person is one element in an expanse of population, a plant is a thread in a quilt that is the garden. My work is a celebration of the small natural elements that are integral to my local environment and ecosystem.

Through drawing I explore different perspectives of nature that are often discarded but serve a purpose of sustainability, often to other beings such as birds and small animals. Subjects are explored through graphite, oil pastel, charcoal and acrylic paint, rendered in high contrast values. My aim with these dense works is to bring the viewer closer to the interconnectedness of nature.
